As the name implies, we love local food! So why not have an excuse to eat more of it?! We’ve created this blog to help us remember where we’ve been, how our experience ensued, and hopefully to help other readers out with some great ideas on trying some different local restaurants. It’s easy to go to a chain food place, but local stuff? It’s much better.

The Problem

For a long time I’ve noticed that people tend to only write reviews on experiences they’ve disliked. And a it really doesn’t matter if it’s from a local food restaurant or a chain store. As a result, a lot of companies get a bad rep even though they may not always be quite so terrible as some imply. Reviews have been too short, too long, useless information, angry, waaaay too happy, and without enough detail to give the curious an opportunity to make a fair judgment. For example, “The food was GREAT!” with 5 stars leaves us with nothing other than one person’s view of the one plate he had. On the other hand, some will swing the pendulum the complete opposite direction to give us a lengthy story on just how terrible their experience was, complete with every little detail on how the reviewer was in the “right” and everyone should only see it from their perspective. Leaves me thinking sometimes, what about the restaurant’s perspective? To add to that, there’s often no mention of the atmosphere, cleanliness, service, or even a suggestion on what to order when you go. This was an irritating reality when trying to find something new to indulge. And if everyone and their relative is leaving reviews, I don’t really have the time to go through them all to get an overall concept on what to expect. All this information seems flooded and overbearing. I’d rather see things about the visit that makes sense to I can get a perception on what to expect.

Our Solution

So we’ve created a judging system to help us give you an overall picture on what you can expect when you try a “new to you” local food place. We judge it with bullet points so you can see them quickly along with a description on how we came to that conclusion. We want to give the local food place an opportunity to be judged fairly. They may have great food, but the atmosphere isn’t quite what we want. They may have a great atmosphere but the service could use some work. At least when you see these items in bullet points, it’ll give a better idea on what to expect. And maybe, they restaurant will see what we’ve written as some helpful criticism in getting better.

The Critics

Enter us! We are Fox and Nate, two friends who work at the same place who wanted to do something different. We live in Colorado (the Colorado Springs area, to be exact) but our critiques are not just with Colorado food. We love local food! And anywhere we are, if there happens to be a local food place, we’ll try it!
